After a day on the fells, a dog-friendly pub with a fire is what most walkers want. The Lake District does these better than almost anywhere: slate floors that don't mind mud, walkers' bars kept separate from the dining rooms, and fires lit for much of the year.
Every pub here welcomes dogs and has a real fire or wood burner, according to our listings. Many only allow dogs in the bar, so check the note on each card, and ring ahead if you're planning around a particular pub.
