Dog-friendly Lake District
The Lake District is England's largest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: fells, lakes and valleys with a walkers' inn at the bottom of almost every path.
Few places in Britain are as used to muddy dogs. Many inns keep water bowls and towels by the door, and lake ferries take dogs too. Sheep roam the open fells, so keep dogs on a lead around them, and check the weather before heading high.
